Meet and Greet events are planned to acquaint people with HMHI. Guests are invited to meet staff, Board members, and current and past participants and to take tours of the facility, enjoy light refreshments and learn more about the program. The desired outcome is that some of the guests will invite their friends to future Meet and Greet events to help spread the story of HMHI. Please contact S. Each year the children from HMHI and Project Renewal join together for an Easter egg hunt in the Central City Community neighborhood. Local college students assist with the event and one always delights the children as the Easter Bunny. Volunteers fill hundreds of eggs, one special donor provides pizza for a party following the egg hunt, and children pick out favorite books and stuffed animals to take home. |

Christmas is an amazing, magical time at HMHI. Churches, businesses and private donors join together to make sure that every child in the program has a Christmas to remember. With 47 sites and an average of 150 people, this is a busy time for everyone, but the outcome is worth the time and effort. Our donors are incredibly generous and we are blessed with many smiling faces each year. Every year our needs increase and we are always seeking additional donors to join the fun in making happy families at Christmastime. This year's Fresh Start Sale is August 17th through 20th! Please bring donations to our temporary donation drop-off location at 2906 Brady St. in Davenport. Building is off Brady at 29th St. just West of Life's Little Treasures. Location will be open Monday, Thursday & Saturday from 9a-3p, but closed 7/3, 7/5 & 7/10. |
This annual event was started in 1990 as a small benefit garage sale at the home of Gertrude Vogel. Over the years the sale grew and eventually outgrew Gertrude's garage, driveway and yard. The sale, now known as the Fresh Start Sale, will be held at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds August 17-20. Opening night is Tuesday, August 17 from 6:00p-8:30p. There will be an entrance fee of $8.00 for opening night only. The sale will also be August 18th from 8am-5pm, August 19th from 8am-5pm and August 20th from 8am-12Noon. It is a wonderful way to convert gently used items including kitchenware, jewelry, bedding, linens, toys, tools, appliances, furniture, etc. into cash to help with HMHI program expenses in order to give families a fresh start in life. The sale opens with an evening social event and the opportunity to purchase those "must have" items at really good prices. We are always in need of volunteers for this event so if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Sr. Mary Ann at the HMHI office. |

| Raffle tickets are available for a drawing to be held at this year's "Fresh Start Sale". The drawing will be Friday, August 20th and you do not need to be present to win. This year's first prize is $500.00 cash! 2nd - 4th prizes are $100.00 cash! Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20 and can be purchased by calling our office at 563-326-1330.
